Opportunity Snapshot

This newly created position offers you the opportunity to join a company that has been growing at a rate of 30% year over year for several years and be part of a major initiative to take our 14-year-old company to a new level of maturity and success. You will interact with some of the biggest US players in the apartment and condo development industry, managing production for multiple projects and acting as the definitive liaison between our manufacturing sources and customer sites. A global company from day one, Impex is aggressively expanding both domestically and internationally and, as you contribute to that growth, you will be in a position to take advantage of the "upward draft" of opportunity it creates.

You will plan, manage, coordinate, and control financials of multi-family, timeshare, co-op, and apartment projects, ensuring the design, engineering, and manufacturing of a project come together flawlessly. To be a good fit for this opportunity you will have at least three years of related construction experience (although we'll consider candidates with fewer years and an exceptional track record) and familiarity with stone, glass, metal, and/or wood materials. In addition to being able to read architectural drawings, you'll need solid skills in MS Excel. We're looking for a self-driven professional with a strong sense of integrity and a positive attitude.

Impex Development has combined a unique business model with a robust commitment to service in order to develop a growing international niche: creating gorgeous and cost-effective interior environments for the hospitality, multi-family, senior living, condominium, and time share industries. We offer full interior packages from our factory, over which we have total quality control, as well as other carefully selected global sources. Our solid industry reputation is based, in part, on unquestionable ethics and integrity in our dealings with our clients, vendors, and employees.

What Else You'll Bring to the Table

In addition to the qualifications detailed above, you'll need: Preferred but not required: You can expect to travel up to 10% of the time, in the US and occasionally Canada, for one to three days at a time. We'll look to you to be flexible and willing to jump on a plane on short notice. You also will need a valid driver's license.

What's in It for You

Work with the biggest names -- we have earned an outstanding industry reputation with major players in the development industries, companies like Starwood, Hyatt, Marriott, Hilton, Forest City Enterprises, and other sophisticated high-end clients. While some companies focus on cabinets and others on tile, no one pulls it all together at the same level of service and quality as Impex Development: attractive design, quality products, cost effective delivery, and outstanding service.

Growing fast, growing right -- we're growing rapidly, but we're also growing right, taking proactive steps to ensure our company can scale effectively to two or three times our present volume over the next few years. In addition to making strategic hires (including this position), we have a re-branding initiative under way, and one of its objectives is to position us as an international player with sourcing and sales that reach beyond the US and China. In fact, we'll be attending a trade show in Qatar in the very near future.

Great work environment -- you already may be aware of Impex's reputation for service and integrity, but another key to our success is our people and their sense of ownership in our vision. We work hard and deliver top quality results, but we have fun in the process. These characteristics have put us in a position in which we're not looking for just another order . . . we've set our sights on the next great opportunity.

Excellent compensation -- in addition to a competitive base salary and incentive program, we offer a comprehensive package that includes health insurance, a 401(k) plan with employer match, profit sharing, and more.

More About Your Role

Reporting to a Senior Project Manager, you will provide direction to a Project Coordinator (a resource you'll share with another PM) who will handle many of the smaller details while you focus on the larger details. In contrast to project management in other areas of our industry, you will manage multiple projects with regard to the development of drawings, approval of specs, and translating that information for and coordinating with our own factory in China and other manufacturers.

A typical project will involve 100 dwelling units, although 300 is not unusual, and occasionally you'll take on a project involving as many as 700. Depending on the size and scope of a project, it could be two months between your first meeting with the client and production, or it could be two years. Once production begins you'll continue to track the project, ensuring we are meeting deadlines.

A service that sets Impex apart from the competition is our commitment to having an Impex representative on site when the product is delivered. This representative ensures the installation crew knows how to unpack and install the product properly, and you'll coordinate this activity, including orchestrating among the subcontractors, such as cabinetry installation, plumbing, electrical and drywall.

In some projects you may also be involved with issues -- such as modifications to specs or materials -- after delivery. Once you are up and running, we'll look to you to be involved in the front end of projects, helping provide pre-construction consultation.

More specifically, your activities will include:

Keys to Success

To excel in this role you will be independent and resourceful, combining common sense with an operational mindset to achieve your goals with minimal supervision. At the same time, you will bring a team player attitude and work effectively in a collaborative team environment. In addition, in order to be an outstanding Project Manager, you will: If this sounds like the right mix of challenge and opportunity for you, and you meet the minimum qualifications, we want to hear from you!

Who We Are

Founded in 1994, Impex Development is the leader in innovation and supply for the manufacture and installation of hospitality, senior living, time share, and multi-family interior products. Growing out of a trans-Pacific sourcing relationship between Terry Thompson and Michael Ni that stretches back to 1990, our company started by supplying stone counter tops for a Westin Hotel in Dallas, TX, and has evolved into a supplier of full interior packages. We deliver bath, kitchen, entertainment, closet, and vanity systems, and more -- all from a single source. In fact, we have been sourcing from Asia longer than anyone in our footprint.

Over the years we have established ourselves as a company that can implement the designer's vision while achieving the owner's budget, combining beauty and utility. The real key to Impex's growth, however, has been our adherence to the founding principles of growth, great people, and strict adherence to a philosophy of quality and ethics in business. Our vision is to seek out and maintain the very best clients and the very best employees.
